Here is our MIT SOLVE 2018 project video. We are making a synthetic protocell to revive the ocean: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Q70obcFCQo

For our MIT Solve 2018 Project, helped build a protocell that will cure the dead spots in the ocean. Dead spots, some the size of Florida, are caused by an overabundance of carbon dioxide, killing all life within the zone. The protocell will be able to supply Oxygen (cleaning the water for all the inhabitants), and then add CO3 (carbonate) into the ocean in order to help organisms rebuild their shells that were destroyed by ocean acidification. Our project will create an underwater community.

There is a common thread of all the things I care about: Pollution is changing and killing even the genetic cells of these crabs. This is called a silent death. I want to explore the undersea wonders, and want to maintain these wonders. There are so many unseen connections, and when those connections break everything falls apart.

In my personal research, I’m exploring all the potential of algae. I also want to contribute the healing properties of algae and how this superfood and key ingredient to life can mitigate acidification. I also want to work with Sara to find out how carbon dioxide is affecting shell’s calcium carbonate.

How Deer You MIT Solve submission: https://solve.mit.edu/challenges/healthy-cities/solutions/8892

My app, ‘How Deer You’, was born from disturbing moments from seeing dead animals on the side of the road. And seemingly at the same place year after year. I thought this was a needless and sad death for the animals, and needless expenses that affect everyone with higher insurance rates.

‘How Deer You’ to stop the needless deaths of animals--Could I solve this problem with a singular app? This app will be an interactive platform for animal lovers. It will be a warning system for drivers all around the world. This app will function like google maps and it will have the perks of saving wildlife. There will be a button at the bottom of the app that you can press whenever you see any wildlife. This app will then alert people driving in that area to go slow. Over time this app will track the hotspots of the wildlife, and alert you when you are driving through those hotspots.

In 2019, I submitted ‘How Deer You’ as the principal investigator and creator of a sensor to protect wildlife and humans. ‘How Deer You’ was highlighted by MIT SOLVE and showed up as a recommended project on their website as an example of the creativity involved in MIT SOLVE.
